Reflection

In reviewing my peer’s assignment, it showed me how different approaches to this assignment could result in different outcomes and styles of survey questions. For example, seeing how my peer structured the survey and the questions provided helped me to be more receptive to other ways of delivering a survey. I sometimes get stuck in only using a Likert scale when that doesn’t always fit the survey’s goal. It was helpful to see how they framed their questions very concisely, avoiding double-barreled questions or biased language, which allowed me to look more carefully for these in my own survey. It also assisted me in refining my questions and making them more succinct. While providing feedback, I focused on the survey questions themselves rather than my peer that created them, which reinforced the importance of giving constructive feedback to myself when I review and edit my own work. Finally, it was fun to think through and problem-solve each suggestion I had for my peer, providing constructive feedback rather than just pointing out an issue and stating “this doesn’t work,” with no guidance on how it could be improved. This is an approach I will apply to my future surveys.
