My Design Toolkit

I use a range of tools and software to design engaging, effective onboarding and learning experiences for new hires. Tab through the images on the right to explore the tools I use most frequently, how I apply each one in my work, and their pros and cons.

Below, you’ll also find additional honorable mentions, which are tools I use less frequently but still find great value in depending on the project, audience, and learning goals.

Kahoot

I use Kahoot to facilitate interactive knowledge checks and gather feedback from large groups in real-time.

Pros: Engaging, promotes participation, instant feedback.

Cons: Speed of questions can cause anxiety. Requires reliable technology in the space.

Poll Everywhere

I use Poll Everywhere to collect live feedback and create interactive discussion prompts during workshops.

 

Pros: Encourages participation, offers anonymous responses, integrates with presentations, including Canva.

 

Cons: Effectiveness depends on facilitation and if questions were well-designed.

PowToons

I use Powtoons to create animated training videos and moving presentations.

 

Pros: User-friendly templates, fast content creation, can include music.

 

Cons: Limitations on look and feel, as well as animation timing.
